Artist Spotlight: Jasmin A.

As a new student at WCI this year, Jasmin A thought the transition would be tough, but she has found her place in this school through the art program. Jasmine is a Grade 11 student at WCI who moved from Ajax, and she has immediately made an impact with her art. She loves art because it’s an escape. She described her love for art by saying, “I like art because there are no rules. I’m free to do whatever I want.”

One of her pieces, which hangs in the WCI library, is hard to miss as it portrays a skull with flames coming out of it. It is called “Red Thoughts Scattered,” and it is about angry thoughts. Of her piece Jasmine said, “I am a really quiet person so when I get angry it is internal and I keep it to myself. This was my way to express my anger through art.”
