Planning to go to University next year? Then join the Uni Club!
The students in charge of the club are Atif Mahmud, Kia Moazzami, and Alex Karanassios and are supervised by Ms. Ridgeway. There is a meeting every Friday at lunch in room 201. The purpose of the University Club is to inform and educate students about universities and to guide them. Every week there is a presentation, either presented by the club directors or club members. The club will have presentations on scholarships, different ways to get money for universities, multiple universities and their programs, tips and advice during the application process, etc. The club directors have already planned university campus tours, guest speakers, handed out pamphlets, and there will be much more. After a few attendances of the Uni Club, grade 12 student Nike Abiodun has some words about it. “The Uni Club has broadened my University options. Even though we’ve only had 3 meetings, it has already helped me a lot.” We asked Nike if the presentations were effective and she said, “Yes, the presentations taught me new things about universities and it helps me feel more prepared for University.” Grade 11s are also welcome if you are wanting to get ahead of the game!
The University Club is encouraging everyone to drop by, especially the grade 12s who don’t know what they want to do. The Uni Club will definitely solve that problem! The club has a sign-up sheet on Google Classroom for presentation dates where you can research and share your findings on anything university-related. This will not only help you but it will help your peers as well when others present. If you present, your name will also be put in a draw for a gift card of your choice!
So for anyone planning to attend university, feel free to come by, FREE snacks are included every week as well!
