Cure a Cold

Welcome back, flu season! It’s the time for coughs, chills, and sniffles. As a student it can be quite difficult to stay home for a sick day, so here are some things you can do to prevent and cure a cold fast!

Eat Right

I’m not saying to quit the fast food, but limit yourself and make sure you balance your diet. Try your best to eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables because your immune system is vulnerable during this season. If you are trying to get rid of a cold, go to food places like Tim Horton’s and order some hot soup and eat oranges for vitamin C. Another important thing is to do is drink water. Try drinking two litres everyday. Dehydration can quickly lead to a cold or fever, so stay hydrated!

Practice Good Hygiene

The school is a very dirty place, filled with a lot of bacteria. The fastest way to get sick is interaction with a sick person. You want to make sure that you wash your hands before you eat and after you use the bathroom. If you’re someone who wants to be extra cautious, keep some hand sanitizer in your backpack. Remember to use a tissue or your sleeve when you need to cough or sneeze, never your hands. This avoids spreading germs through the air. It can be nice to share food with your friends but during this season I suggest that you don’t. Sharing food and water is one of the fastest ways you can spread germs.

Care For Your Body

Having enough rest is crucial in curing a cold. Your body needs time to recover and the sleep will help relieve your symptoms. Try sleeping for at least eight hours and try taking small naps during the day if you can. Try to be active for at least 30 minutes during the day. It keeps the body healthy and helps the immune system stay strong. You could have a walk, jog around the block, or do a quick sport with a friend. Fresh air is also great for the body.

It’s hard being sick as a student because you can miss a lot in just one day, so try your best to stay healthy. Hopefully this article will help prevent you from catching a cold. If you are already sick, hopefully this article helped you get better quick!
