Lady Vikes Going for Gold

The WCI Senior girls basketball team has had a great start to their season by winning 8 out of 10 of their games. They recently had a tough loss against the SJAM Highlanders but managed to keep the score close and the energy up until the last minute. They played amazingly in the Conestoga Condors tournament bringing home 3 straight wins.

The Lady Vikes’ most recent games were both total nail biters. They managed to keep the lead over Jacob Hespeler throughout the entire game to finish with a 38-34 win and fought hard against the Galt Ghosts to finish with a 39-34 lead. “We have some very important games coming up and the Senior girls hold their destiny in their own hands,” said Head Coach Kerri Jilesen. “We have the chance to move up in the standings if we take care of the next few games.”

WCI has a relatively small girls basketball team, leading to a short bench and plenty of playing time for all 9 players. They have 2 league games left until the playoffs. The girls have a goal to finish top 2 in WCSSAA to secure a spot in CWOSSA this year. “I really believe that we have the potential to meet all of these goals!” said point guard Becca Kim. Make sure to come out and support the Lady Vikes as they finish off their season!
