A Look Into the Girls Field Hockey Season

The WCI girls field hockey team had a season full of dramatic entertainment; they made it all the way to the WCSSAA semifinals with numerous tough wins and losses, they won an outstanding 12 out of 17 games even with injuries to key players. They had a tough semifinal game against Cameron Heights where their captain, Juli, got smacked in the face with a field hockey stick by the other team. The parents were crazy, everyone was on edge, just waiting to see what would happen next. In the end, this game resulted in a 2-1 loss, which ended WCI’s season.

Darci, the top scorer of the season, says “ I’d say going into the season we knew we had lost a lot of great vets but we were very hopeful for the season. We were a very close group and all the ages clicked and got along well. Although I led the league in scoring, I couldn’t have done it without the girls putting in that effort to win and give me the ball. The coaches were great at supporting us through all of it.”

They have had an extremely successful season, ending in a 3-way tie for first and making it all the way to CWOSSA quarter finals. They’ve accomplished this with multiple riots from parents, and even sticks to the face. The girls are looking forward to next year and can’t wait to see what the season will bring.
