Thanksgiving… the time when we feel grateful for pretty much everything. And I, for one, am grateful that my aunt let me make the mashed potatoes for the Thanksgiving Feast at their house! To celebrate, I have decided to share with you my brilliant and delicious mashed potato recipe!
Here are the ingredients:
- 16 medium-sized potatoes
- ¾ cup of milk
- ¼ cup of butter
- 2 tsp. minced garlic (optional)
First of all, you must decide how many potatoes you will actually need to cook. For eleven people, we cooked 16 of the potatoes we bought. The amount of potatoes sacrificed will depend on how many people you have coming to the party. You might have a HUGE family, like aunts twice-removed and that creepy uncle you only ever see at big family gatherings. Or it could just be your immediate family.
Boil the potatoes until they are soft enough that the second-weakest in the family can mash without straining and breaking their arms.
There are a lot of potatoes, so you’ll need all your strength to mash, unless you are Hercules or Pippi Longstocking reincarnated. Sometimes, playing your favourite playlist can motivate you to work hard.
While mashing the potatoes, add milk to make them creamy. In a separate pot, melt butter and add minced garlic. If anyone in your family is allergic to garlic, has an agenda against garlic, or is a vampire, just skip this part. Mix the garlic butter into the potato mix to give it a beautiful taste.
Voilà! Your delicious mashed potatoes are ready!!!
